We made this section of the website in order to archive the former website “abarquinha.org.br” which no longer exists. It contained much good information about the Barquinha which can no longer be found online anywhere. Information about Barquinha is very sparse, and there are not many good resources to listen to their music.
The Barquinha was founded by Daniel Pereira de Mattos, who is known to his followers as “Mestre Daniel” or “Frei Daniel” in 1947.
The title “Frei” corresponds to the english “Friar” , given the heavy Franciscan emphasis.
