Tereza Gregório, known as Tetê, was born in Rio Grande do Norte and came to Acre with her family to the hinterlands of the Juruá River during the Second World War. She accompanied her parents, Idalino and Maria Francisca das Chagas, when they came to settle in Rio Branco, in 1951. With the arrival of her sister Rita and her brother-in-law Sebastião Mota de Melo to Colonia Cinco Mil, in the state capital. Years later, she welcomed the Santo Daime and was welcomed by it with satisfaction, having become a sister in uniform while Mestre Irineu was still alive.
In Colônia Cinco Mil, she became the caretaker of the new church, her beloved “barquinha” (the original idea of the architectural project was that it be built in the shape of a boat), taking care of its cleaning and presentation as well as the prayer of the rosary before the hinários and dancing in the queue of single women.
Emotional overweight made it possible for her to develop a tumor, which killed her when she was not yet fifty years old. She crossed over to the other side “with praise”, as is attested by her hymnbook of excellence in which the Beija-flor curator of the Arroxim Line shines, and where she, like Maria Marques Vieira, knew how to present her farewells in a burst of joy:
